Naming your brand is one of the most exciting (and paralyzing) parts of starting something new. It sets the tone, sparks first impressions, and—ideally—stays lodged in your audience's mind long after they close the tab. At Studio Treehouse, we’ve helped dozens of founders name their business in a way that feels true, strategic, and aligned with growth.

Here’s how to do the same.

1. Make It Memorable
Great names have staying power. They’re often short, easy to pronounce, and evoke a feeling or image. Think of names like “Glossier,” “Patagonia,” or “Notion.” Whether playful or poetic, simplicity matters.

Pro tip: Say it out loud, write it down, imagine someone asking, "Have you heard of ___?" If it sounds like it could be passed around in conversation, you’re onto something.

2. Align with Your Brand Energy
A name should feel like an extension of your essence. If your brand is earthy and gentle, you might lean toward softer sounds and round vowels (like "Soma" or "Oura"). If it’s bold and high-energy, sharper consonants or unexpected combinations could suit you better (like "Stripe" or "Clarity").

Treehouse trick: Think of your brand as a person. What would their nickname be?

3. Leave Room to Grow
Today you might be a yoga teacher. Tomorrow you’re leading retreats, launching a podcast, or creating products. Choose a name that allows for evolution—don’t box yourself in with hyper-specific language or trends that might not age well.

Ask yourself: Will this still make sense (and feel good) in five years?

4. Be Mindful of SEO & Domains
Even the most dreamy name needs a reality check. Is the domain available? Are your social handles free? Can people spell it without help? If you’re using a made-up word or unusual spelling, make sure you balance uniqueness with usability.

Tip: Search your name idea in Google, Instagram, and the trademark database before you fall in love.

5. Test It (Then Trust It)
Once you have a shortlist, test the waters. Ask people who match your dream client vibe what they associate with the name. But don’t get stuck in feedback loops. At the end of the day, it’s your business—and your brand begins with your voice.

Still stuck?
We’ve got you. Naming is part of our custom branding process at Studio Treehouse. We’ll guide you from voice to visuals—so your brand not only looks good, but feels like home.

Choosing colors for your brand is more than just picking your favorite shades. It’s about translating your energy into visuals that instantly connect with your audience. At Studio Treehouse, we believe your brand should feel like an extension of you—warm, intentional, and unmistakably yours.

Here’s how to find your palette.

1. Start with Your Brand’s Personality
Is your brand grounded and calming? Bright and energetic? Dreamy and intuitive? Write down 3–5 words that describe how your brand feels to your audience. Then, associate each word with a color. For example:

Calm → sage green or soft beige
Bold → terracotta or cobalt blue
Whimsical → peach or lavender

Treehouse tip: Think in moods, not just colors. What season, element, or texture feels like your brand?

2. Choose a Base, Accent, and Neutral
A balanced color palette usually has:

1. A base color that dominates (like forest green)
2. An accent color that pops (like gold or blush)
3. A neutral that softens and supports (like sand or cream)

This trio keeps things cohesive but never boring.

Pro tip: Less is more. Three to five well-chosen colors go a lot further than ten that clash.

3. Reflect on the Emotional Impact
Color psychology is real. Warm tones (like ochre or coral) feel inviting. Cool tones (like teal or grey) feel professional. Earth tones create trust. Pastels feel gentle and dreamy.

Ask yourself: What do I want people to feel when they land on my site?

4. Create a Moodboard
Before finalizing your palette, gather images, fonts, and inspiration that reflect your brand’s essence. Use Pinterest or Canva to see how everything flows together. Patterns will emerge—and your palette will start to take shape.

Bonus: Try adding natural textures like linen, clay, or paper if your brand leans earthy or handmade.

Let’s be honest: building a website can feel like a never-ending to-do list. There’s always one more tweak, one more font to test, one more photo to retouch. Before you know it, you’re stuck in a perfectionism loop—and your site never sees the light of day.

At Studio Treehouse, we’ve seen this happen again and again (and yes, we’ve been there too). That’s why we created this guide—to help you get your website out into the world without burning out or overthinking every pixel.

1. Progress Over Perfection
Your website doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful. In fact, some of the most magnetic brands we’ve seen are built on realness, not refinement. What matters is clarity—who you are, what you offer, and how people can work with you.

Treehouse reminder: Done is better than perfect. Especially when perfect is just a moving target.

2. Focus on the Essentials
Before you fall down a rabbit hole of button shapes and hover states, ask yourself: what really needs to be there for your site to do its job? For most service-based businesses, it comes down to:

- A strong homepage
- A clear about page
- A way to work with you
- Testimonials or proof of your work
- A contact form

The rest can evolve over time. Launch now, refine later.

3. Create a Safe Launch Plan
Not every launch has to be loud. You can roll things out softly, share with a few people, and expand from there. This is especially helpful if your nervous system flinches at the word “launch.”

Whether you send your site to five close friends or post it proudly on Instagram, the important thing is: you launched.

4. Use Our Pre-Launch Checklist
We made a free checklist to help you make sure everything works—from links to loading speeds—without obsessing over every design detail. Download it, tick things off, and launch with peace of mind.

You’ve got ideas, talent, and a message to share—now all you need is a website that doesn’t make you want to scream into a pillow. There are a lot of website platforms out there. And if you’ve ever opened one and immediately closed it again (hello, Squarespace settings menu), you’re not alone. Many platforms are built for developers and designers. Showit is different. It was made with creative business owners in mind—people like you, who want freedom, flexibility, and beauty, without needing a degree in tech.

1. Drag, drop, done.
Showit works like a design program, not a website builder. Want to move a text block a little to the left? Just drag it. Want to layer a photo behind a shape? Easy. You can place elements anywhere you want—no grid restrictions, no coding. -Treehouse tip: It’s like building a collage. If you can work with Canva, you can work with Showit.

2. Complete creative control
Most platforms give you a theme and expect you to fill in the blanks. With Showit, you start with a beautiful template (like ours!) but you can make it completely your own. Change every color, font, image, and layout—without limits. Your site becomes a reflection of you. Not just another cookie-cutter template. It’s not just about how it looks—it’s how it feels. Our clients often say that once their site feels like them, they finally have the confidence to show up fully. That’s the magic of true creative control.

3. Built-in mobile design
Ever landed on a website that looked great on your laptop, but on your phone the text was tiny, images were chopped off, and buttons were impossible to tap? With Showit, that’s never a problem. You can design the mobile version of your site separately—adjust text sizes, layout, spacing, images—so it’s actually made for small screens. Your site won’t just function on mobile, it’ll feel intentional, smooth, and just as beautiful as your desktop design.

One of our clients had a gorgeous homepage... on desktop. But on mobile? Buttons overlapped, text was unreadable, and the vibe just felt off. With Showit, we restructured her mobile view in under an hour—now it looks stunning and it converts.

4. Support that speaks your language
Showit’s support team is friendly, fast, and used to helping non-techy creatives. They’ve got live chat, tutorials, and a whole help center. - Bonus: we’re here too. If you use a Studio Treehouse template, you’ll also get a custom e-book and our personal support to help you get started.

5. Built to grow with you
Starting small? Perfect. Planning to expand your offers, add a blog, or build a sales page? Even better. Showit grows with you. Add pages, tweak your layout, or totally rebrand down the line—without starting from scratch.

Your website doesn’t have to be a one-time launch. It can be a living, breathing space that evolves alongside your business. Ready to build something beautiful? Start with a free 14-day trial. All you need is a template—and a little spark of magic.

You’ve poured your heart into your business, and your website is the digital home where it all comes together. But before you hit publish, take a breath—and take a moment. Because a strong launch isn’t just about going live, it’s about going live with clarity, confidence, and intention.

We’ve helped dozens of creatives launch (and relaunch) websites that actually work—strategically, beautifully, and with ease. Here’s our expert-backed checklist to make sure your site is ready for the world.

1. Clear brand foundations
Your website should feel like an extension of you. That starts with a strong brand foundation. Before designing anything, make sure you’re crystal clear on: your brand values, your tone of voice, your ideal client & your visual identity (colors, fonts, logo) - If you’re still figuring this out, don’t worry—our Brand Awakening Workbook helps you build this from the ground up.

2. Compelling copy that converts
Beautiful design is important. But without the right words, people won’t take action. Make sure every page has clear, focused messaging: What do you do? Who is it for? How can they work with you? Why should they choose you? - Treehouse tip: Write like a human, not like a robot. Your words should sound like you, not like a business template.

3. Smart structure & user flow
Websites should be intuitive, not overwhelming. Think like your visitor: what do they need to see, feel, and do? Keep your navigation simple (no more than 5-6 items) and guide visitors through your site with clear CTAs. Use hierarchy and whitespace to help people breathe, don't make it to small.

4. Mobile optimization
Nearly 70% of web traffic happens on phones. Your site should look just as beautiful—and functional—on mobile as it does on desktop. With Showit, you can fully customize your mobile layout. No more cut-off images or micro-buttons.

5. SEO basics in place
You don’t need to become an SEO wizard, but a few things go a long way:
Page titles & meta descriptions, ALT text for images, Fast loading times and
Proper H1-H2 structure. All of our templates are built with this in mind—and we include a beginner-friendly SEO guide with every design.

6. Legal & logistical must-haves
Before you launch, double-check: A clear privacy policy, cookie notice (if needed), contact info & legal terms (especially if you sell products)

7. A confident mindset
This might be the most overlooked step—and the most important. You don’t need your website to be perfect. You just need it to be alive. Websites evolve. So hit publish, show up, and trust that you can always refine as you grow.

From Perfectionism to Publish

Your homepage is prime real estate. It's the first impression, the digital doorway, the space where people decide if they want to stick around. But even the most beautiful brands can lose visitors in seconds with a homepage that confuses, overwhelms, or leaves too many questions unanswered.

At Studio Treehouse, we’ve reviewed countless homepages and guided clients toward websites that not only look stunning, but actually work. Here are the five most common missteps we see—and what to do instead.

1. No clear headline or introduction
When someone lands on your site, they should instantly know who you are and what you offer. A vague "Welcome to my website" or no headline at all? That’s a missed opportunity. What to do instead: Use a clear, friendly headline that speaks directly to your audience. For example: "Helping creative entrepreneurs build a brand they love." Bonus: a short tagline or intro paragraph that gives a little more context.

2. Too many choices (aka, decision fatigue)
If your homepage is packed with buttons, pop-ups, ten service options, and a giant newsletter bar, your visitor might bounce before they even scroll. What to do instead: Keep your homepage focused. Highlight one or two key paths (like "Work with me" or "Shop templates") and use thoughtful layout and hierarchy to guide your reader gently.

3. Missing or unclear call-to-action (CTA)
Your visitor is interested—but now what? If you’re not telling them where to go next, they’ll likely leave without taking action. What to do instead: Add a strong CTA above the fold ("Book a free call", "Browse the shop", etc.) and repeat it throughout the page. Make it feel like a natural next step, not a pushy sale.

4. Ignoring mobile design
Looks gorgeous on desktop, but on mobile? The text is tiny, buttons are impossible to tap, and that beautiful layout is suddenly a mess. What to do instead: Design with mobile in mind. Tools like Showit let you create separate desktop and mobile layouts, so your site works beautifully across all devices. Always test before you launch.

5. All design, no soul
A sleek homepage with perfect fonts and dreamy colors is lovely. But if it feels impersonal, robotic, or generic? It won’t connect. What to do instead: Let your personality show. Use language that sounds like you. Include a friendly photo. Tell a story. People want to work with humans, not just brands.

Time to tidy your homepage?
Go through your own homepage with fresh eyes (or ask a friend to). Fixing just one of these can make a huge difference.

Need help? That’s what we’re here for. Our templates are built with strategy and soul—so your homepage does more than look good. It works.
